Jewel Staite is a Canadian actress who became famous for her roles in shows such as “Firefly” and “Stargate Atlantis.” she began her career in 1991 as a child actress on the film “Posing: Inspired by Three Stories” as Jennifer Lanahan. The following year, she appeared in the 1992 series “The Odyssey.”

In 1993, Jewel Staite appeared in the movie “Liar, Liar: Between Father and Daughter.” She also had a role in the movie “The Only Way Out.” In 1994, she had a guest role in the popular teen thriller anthology “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” in the episode “The Tale of Watcher's Woods.” She later reprised her role in “The Odyssey” in a guest appearance that same year.

Jewel Staite is one of Canada's most recognizable faces on television, mainly because of her roles on various television shows. In 1995 she had a role in the film “Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain” opposite fellow young actresses Christina Ricci and Anna Chlumsky. She also had a guest appearance in the hit TV series “The X-Files.”

In 2002, Jewel Staite became known to audiences as Kaylee Frye in the sci-fi series “Firefly.” She also had a recurring role in the series “Just Deal,” and was cast in the movie “Cheats.” In 2003 she made a guest appearance in the series “Dead Like Me.”

In 2004, Jewel Staite played the character of antagonist Heidi Gotts in the hit TV series “Wonderfalls,” and was seen in shows such as “Huff” and “Cold Squad.” In 2005 she reprised her character Kaylee Frye in the “Firefly” spinoff film “Serenity.” She also had guest role in “Stargate Atlantis” in 2005. Beginning 2007, she became a regular in the “Stargate Atlantis” roster of characters as Dr. Jennifer Keller.
